Oral Head and Neck cancer screenings should be performed at every comprehensive or periodic examination to optimize health. Every examination at Healing Tooth will start with an Oral Head and Neck   Cancer & Pathology screening. According to the American Cancer Society, the lifetime percentage risk of developing oral cavity and oropharyngeal cancer is about 1 in 59 for men (1.69%) and 1 in 139 for women (0.72%).
While the risk of developing oral cavity and oropharyngeal cancer is relatively low, a 35-fold increased risk is associated with the combined heavy use of both tobacco and alcohol. Pathological conditions in the mouth can be malignant, benign but locally invasive, or benign in nature. Thus, it is important to catch pathological conditions as early as possible.
